Review
Carmilla is considered to be a classic of the horror genre and was an influence on Bram Stoker. Comparing the writing to that of Poe, this book is not as strong. The writing style is the more antique style popular in Gothic fiction, but without the quality of the writing found in other authors’ works. The book is also fairly short. It could have been more impactful if extended a bit more. It leaves me wanting a bit. That said, it is very imaginative and the characters are well done. The dream scenes are very well described and creepy.
