1946 RetroHugo winner for best short story.

Review

Another of the type of story Clement was best at. The writing is good and characterization is good. Even the plot is good. But it’s the world and the critters that live there—and which give Cunningham his ultimate solution to the problem—that make this story brilliant. Highly recommended.
