Review

The Gryb is the title creature and is really a sort of example to prove to the Europan trying to kill Thomas that there is more than meets the eye in the Minister’s politics. So the story is about politics and how situations tend to repeat in history, beings can be relied upon to fall into traps that have been sprung on other beings in the past. It’s an enjoyable story, but it lacks the imagination and suspense of Van Vogt’s previous few stories. Recommended for anyone who loves Van Vogt or Golden Age SF. It is a good example of the Astounding stories of the 40s.
