“A Family Elopement”
1894-03-03
short story
By H. G. Wells

Synopsis

A man and his mistress run into his wife and her fling at the train station.

History

First publication: St James’s Gazette, March 3, 1894

Review

A very short story, sort of reflecting Wells’ ideas about marriage and sex, having had a lot of affairs throughout his life. Everyone makes the best of the awkward situation and agree to make small talk. Not that great of a story.
