short story
By H. G. Wells

Two men talk over a reproduction of a painting about the place of man in the universe.

History

First publication: Science Schools Journal No. 3, February 1887

Published as by Septimus Browne.

Review

Wells’ earliest writing existant, to my knowledge anyway. Very short, but already this demonstrates Wells’ love of discussing the philosophy of modern science and it’s relation to man. Kind of sets the course of his future writings.
