History
First publication: Berkley, August 1962
Review
The expanded version of this novel adds a plot of conflict between Kerans and a madman, resulting in comparison to Heart of Darkness. Otherwise the story is still mostly Ballard’s awesome prose and the imaginative descriptions of a drowned earth. One of the earliest examples of climate fiction.
