The wind all over the earth suddenly and inexplicably starts to get stronger and keeps mounting, stopping the world’s transportation and then wiping away all of the buildings.

Review
This was interesting. The reason is that I read this shortly after reading the magazine version called Storm-Wind. I have to say that Storm-Wind was more enjoyable. I still can’t see why Ballard didn’t want The Wind from Nowhere to ever be reprinted, but I will agree that this version of the story seemed kind of weak. Better than the first novels of most other authors, but weak for Ballard. Recommended to the Ballard enthusiast.
