Synopsis
A man in the 1940s, trying to develop atomic power, invents a process that allows dirt to be converted into anything. The story follows the changes that occur from this technology over thousands of years.

Review
This is a pretty interesting story, though based on a fantastical scientific device. It was published in Astounding, but the science is still fantasy. The writing is okay, following diary entries from a series of people through the ages.
