Review
The idea of the Doppelganger was a very popular one in the time of Poe. In many ways Frankenstein was such a story. Definitely Dr. Jekyll was a doppelganger story. It was a popular subject in Gothic literature and was a metaphor for the two sides of our minds - the side that would have our way and the side that would see the immorality of such actions. This story explores that dual nature with a moral self that is like a specter. Recommended.
