Review
Very much a pulp-style space opera, complete with an alien menace and scantily-clad women. The sort of thing Planet Stories was famous for, except this was in Amazing Stories. Apparently Amazing was copying Planet and Startling because the lead story in this issue also had a beautiful and topless woman. These are the stories that gave science fiction a bad reputation. Still, despite the pin-up girls and terrible characterization, these stories are fun. They are on par with what was happening in the comic books. It’s what the market was doing in 1951. At least what it was doing if you weren’t Astounding or Galaxy or Fantasy & Science Fiction. This story can be enjoyed by those who love pulp space opera and Flash Gordon. Not recommended for anyone else.
