Review
A horror story from Van Vogt, this follows the familiar story pattern set by “Black Destroyer” and “Discord in Scarlet.” It follows the pattern in having half of the story in the thoughts of the monster, plus having an isolated group of humans as the monster’s prey. I think this story shows better characterization than those earlier two stories, making it a stronger work technically. Recommended, especially if you want a pure horror story from a science fiction writer.
