Synopsis
Judge is a sculptor who was beaten and left to die in the jungle. He starts back to the settlement with revenge in mind and an alien creature for a friend.

Review
The closest story to this I think is A Martian Osyssey, but that is not really a good comparison. We do have a man befriended by an alien and they do walk back to the human settlement together. But this story goes a lot farther, questioning assumptions and taking Judge on a trek to greater awareness and greater empathy. Recommended.
