History

First publication: Fantastic, June 1956

Review

Pre-feminism and written to pay the bills. Mid-Fifties Fantastic under editor Howard Browne was pretty focused on teen male fantasies and had a lot of pin-up cover art. I wasn't sure if that art really reflected the content of the magazine, but in this case the story is very much teen male fantasy. If you ca get past that, it's not a poorly written story. Only recommended to the Silverberg completist.
