Review

One of Hodgson’s earliest works. This story is very Lovecraftian and probably was an influence on Lovecraft. It is kept very mysterious, never revealing what is causing the horror that is described. The story does create a creepy atmoshpere and has a lot of imagination. Hodgson realizes that to give the reader a full explanation of things will remove the horror of it. Recommended to fans of Lovecraftian fiction.
