“The Holes Around Mars”
1954-01-00
short story
By Jerome Bixby

Synopsis

An expedition to Mars finds life and a series of mysterious holes that line up perfectly.

History

First publication: Galaxy January 1954

Review

This is a pretty good story, but not great. First, the science is impossible. Second, it is too short to really build the world or the aliens of Mars. Character is fairly good for early fifties SF. An enjoyable story to read.
