Review

This is an amazing novel, deserving its classic status. Don’t expect the sappy romance story that you have been led to believe. This story is a dark Gothic story, filled with sickness and death. The people who supposedly love one another do nothing but hurt each other. None of the characters are really likeable. Nobody lives a good life. Life is hard and short for these people. And the drama is extreme as is fitting for the Romanticist period in literature. Emotions must be powerful. This a book that you won’t really enjoy, but you won’t be able to stop. It is very engaging. Recommended.
